Wedding
The Hortus is an official wedding location. By day, the official ceremony can be held in the quiet and charming Laranjazaal. From 3 pm the Palm Greenhouse can also be hired and past 5 pm the café and its terrace are also available. Reception and dining can take place in the café, the Palm Greenhouse, or at the garden terrace.
To book official wedding dates and all substantive matters to solemnize a marriage, you can contact the Amsterdam District Civil Affairs Center.

On the first floor of our hortuscafé, the Laranja room (Laranjazaal) is located. It is a serene and well-lit room, with floor-to-ceiling windows on three sides, offering a beautiful view of the lively streets of Amsterdam and the quiet Hortus garden itself.
The Laranja room is fitted with all modern facilities for a professional meeting. Located outside the Hortus, at the Plantage Middenlaan, is the J.P. Thijsse Library. An exclusive venue for smaller meetings.
