During the past 10 years, he has won another 7 awards including DJ of the Year by Paranoia in 2015, and in the same year, he decided to create a platform together with his fellow producers with a single mission to teach and help the next generation of producers in Indonesia.
Mahesa Utara sound is inspired by his diverse references to music. From the complexity of jazz to the raw rebellious attitude of punk. This unique combination of musical elements is projected into his work. His signature can only be described as “unexpected” and sometimes “weird” in a good way.
At a very early young age, Mahesa Utara was introduced to jazz by his father, the complexity of Jazz fascinated him so much, that he decided to learn a musical instrument (drums) and dig deep into progressive and fusion jazz such as Java Jazz and Chick Corea. In 2008 however, the other side of music-making processes starts to grow on him, which is music production. In 2008 he made the decision to lean into electronic music, he won his first nationwide remix competition in that same year. In 2010 he made the first EDM to moombahton transitional tracks in the world. This track got a recognition from some of the big DJs such as Diplo, Chuckie, Sidney Samson, Swedish House Mafia, and Laidback Luke. In 2012 Mahesa Utara coproduced a track with Diplo for the Major Lazer Project. This was his first biggest achievement. In 2018 he and his fellow producers made a label designed to help the next generation producers in Indonesia.
