DJ Flip started his musical career back in 1993 as a Rapper/HipHop MC back in his hometown Medan, where he has gained much respect by winning numerous Rap/MC battles. DJ Flip started his musical career back in 1993 as a Rapper/HipHop MC back in his hometown Medan, where he has gained much respect by winning numerous Rap/MC battles. Five years later, in 1998 he decided to change his style of music. Flip and his entourage formed a Hardcore Band called “Grill Salmon” and Flip was their frontman. Back in those days, they rocked a lot of stages at the local underground scene.
In 2002 he decided to move to his new home city, Bandung, where he went back to the Urban scene and was introduced to the Turntables. Flip and his new crew formed a Turntablism group, (3 Turntablist & 3 MCs) called “CRONIK”. In 2004, after two long years with Cronik, he left the group and Join with Hiphop Crew Called SONIC SQUAD and became the additional DJ for one of the famous Indonesian vocal group artist called “TOFU” with Fla, Anton and Joeniar Arief.
In 2005 Flip entered the world-known DMC DJ competition in Bandung, Indonesia, and won 3rd place. And in 2006 he also became runner-up at the PIONEER digital DJ battle for DMC style categories.
After all those years and experiences in the music scene, Flip wanted to have a taste of the club scene and was recruited as a resident DJ by one of the best clubs in Bandung, “EMBASSY”. His passion for music made him want to learn more about all kinds of musical styles. And again he changed his style of music and started spinning a mixture of all Electronic Dance Music.
In 2006 Flip joined DJ management from Jakarta called RHYTHM and he’s left in 2007 to be a part of TRIGGER Production to share his knowledge and passion for music. Since then everything else became history, and he is now one of the main men of TRIGGER Production. The dance scene seems to love his unique style of mixing and scratching over those pumping beats.
In 2008 he was nominated for Best Resident DJ by Oz Wonderland Award. In 2009 he was nominated for Rural DJ of the year by Paranoia Award, and Best Resident DJ of the year by Freemagz Award. DJ Flip has taken part in many big Festivals and club events in Indonesia including Jakarta, Bali, Bandung, Medan, Lampung, Surabaya, Palembang, Pontianak, Batam, Jogja, Malang, Kupang, Balikpapan and many more.. He has shared the decks and rocked thousands of music lovers with many big International names like David Penn, Chris lake, Sharam Jey, Hoxton Whores, Kungs, Henry Fong, Sick Individual, Mike Mago, Lucky Date, Cash Cash, Moti, EDX, Quintino, Sander van Doorn, Deniz Koyu, Sunnery James & Ryan Marciano, Gregor Salto, Cedric Gervais, Lucas & Steve, Bassjackers, Pep & Rash, Sam Felt, San holo and many more.
